Third Hand Plays (SFMoMA) [2011]
This is a series of blog posts I did in 2011 for the site Open Space at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Third Hand Plays is an expansion upon an essay I published earlier that year called Comedies of Separation: Toward a Theory of the Ludic Book which attempted to describe 7 (eventually 10) modes of text/algorithm interaction which I called “comedies” after Hugh Kenner’s book The Stoic Comedians. These writings don’t concern “electronic literature” but rather all sorts of digital text art including rather profane jokes.
